Not every post posted here or on other social media should you see as a joke. If you are very conversant on this platform, you will know what I mean.
And the story of a man who committed suicide after he had posted on Facebook went viral days ago. Reading what he posted, you will know he was depressed; unhappy.
What many are saying is the length at which one of those who comment on the post took it (the post) lightly. The comment was: "Come and take rope" Some were even saying he might have been the reason why the deceased committed the act as some tagged it to be assisted suicide of which he might be charged/arrested for if it was to be foreign country.
I read the story, read people's reaction, and that he (main commentator on the post) had even changed his username due to backlash he received for the comment he made, but does that change the story??
You don't expect someone to come here and post "I want to commit suicide" directly, they will only do that indirectly. It is you the reader who will detect and know what the poster is saying.
When you see a depressed post or you see someone depressed, it is that time you have to show them love, let them know they are an instrument to changing the world to a better place; and not that you count the situation at hand as joke.
Whatever you say regarding the depressed post/person will surely determine the next action the person will take - either to withdraw from or proceed with the intended intention.
A depressed person is to be encouraged and not to be seeing as a jester at that point in time. They are to be loved and not be made lonely.
Know how to respond to situation of things not in an harmful way, but a in a way it will profer the rightful (legal) and needed solution to the problem.
