UNIZIK Produces 7,731 For 2016/2017 Academic Set



Nnamdi Azikiwe University yesterday held her convocation ceremony and confirment of first degree to a total of 6,641 graduands of the University.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony which was held at the convocation arena of the University, the Chancellor of the University, Da Jacob Gyang Buba commended the vice Chancellor for the prevalent of peace and security in the University and its continued infrastructural development.

He however charged the graduating students to be distinguished by their inflagging selfless service to the good of the public while congratulating them for all their effort to becoming a graduate.

Also speaking, the Pro chancellor, Alhaji Azeez Oladotun Bello commended the vice Chancellor for piloting the affairs of the University and for the good projects he embarked on which will soon be commissioned .

The Pro Chancellor also congratulated parents and guardians of the graduands who have borne the financial responsibility throughout their study Years, adding that it's time for them to reap the fruit of their labour as they are now being sent to the labour market.

Earlier in his speech, the vice Chancellor of the University noted that over five hundred Chinese companies will be in the University to recruit fresh graduate as part of the connection between the Chinese government and the University.

Prof Ahaneku also noted that the National University Commission's November2017 accreditation visit to some academic programs of the University as all the University's academic programs are in good standing , while the results for a few others are still awaited.

The vice Chancellor however congratulated the graduating students charging them to be good examples and channel the knowledge gained from the University to the good of the public. He also noted that the University is presenting a total of 7,731 graduands as 6,641 are for first degree, 190 are for post graduate diploma, 674 for master's degree and 227 for doctorate degree.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, one of the graduands from mass communication department, Prince Henry Nnabueh expressed graduate to God for seeing him throughout his study Years in the University, he however prays to find a good job in the labour market.

Highlights of the event include convocation presentation by deans of faculty, amongst hosts of other activities.
